The Freshman eleven was defeated Saturday by Groton by a score of 6 to 5. The game was hard fought throughout, but was in every way discreditable to the Freshman team which, besides an advantage in weight, faced a team weakened by the loss of a captain and two other players. The Groton team gained most of its ground through the right side of the Freshman line and did so at will. For Harvard the bulk of the work was done by Bunting at right halfback. The interference was almost always ragged and slow in forming. A rally after Groton had scored enabled Randall to make a touchdown, but the punt-out was fumbled and no goal could be kicked.
The summary: Score--Groton 6, Harvard 5. Touchdowns--Nichols, Randall. Goal from touchdown Hoppin. Umpire-- Lawrence. Referee--Dr. Peabody. Time--15 minute halves.
