The spectators began to fill the stands at 12.45 and the seats were practically all filled at 1.30. The sky was dark and leaden, and wet snow flurries fell at intervals. The field was slippery as a result of the early morning sleet. The Harvard stand was full of color, and the enthusiasm ran high long before the time of the game.

The Yale team came on the field at 1.58 amid great excitement, and the Harvard team was greeted as enthusiastically immediately afterward. The wind was strong from the northeast. Harvard won the toss and faced the west goal with the wind in their favor.

The line-up follows:

Umpire--Dashiel of Annapolis. Referee--McClung of Lehigh. Timekeeper--Whiting of Cornell. Linesmen, Lawrence, Harvard; and Hull, Yale.

The Athletic Committee decided this morning unanimously after a long conference that Cutts was eligible to play. The chief testimony was that of Mr. Charles S. Crossman, Head Master of the Harvard College Grammar School, who gave his affidavit that Cutts was paid for his services as a mathematics instructor alone, and received no compensation whatever for coaching the athletic teams or giving instruction in physical culture or work done in the gymnasium at the school.

THE GAME IN DETAIL.

Olcott kicked off to Campbell who made a poor catch on the 18 yard line. Bladgen gained 5 yards through left tackle. Graydon fumbled and Yale got ball on the 25 yard line.

Harvard stopped two centre plays. De Saulles tried a drop kick from the 30 yard line, but the ball went wild.

Kernan punted to Hart on Yale's 50 yard line. Bowditch tackled Chadwick for a loss, and DeSaulles punted to Marshall who was downed on his own 40 yard line.

Kernan lost a yard at right tackle. Blagden gained 2 yards at left tackle. Kernan gained 4 yards through tackle. Graydon gained 3 yards through right tackle, and Blagden gained 2 at same place. Blagden ploughed through right tackle for 5 yards. Harvard then lost 10 yards for offside play. Kernan muffed the pass from centre and Yale got ball on Harvard's 35 yard line.

Chadwick gained 2 yards at right tackle. Weymouth was then downed for no gain at left tackle.

De Saulles tried quarterback kick and Chadwick got the ball on Harvard's 20 yard line. Weymouth gained 2 yards at left tackle. Bowditch downed Chadwick for a loss of 2 yards. DeSaulles tried goal from the field from the 35 yard line but the kick was blocked, and Cutts got the ball. Kernan gained 7 yards through Goss. On the next play there was no gain through centre.

Kernan punted to DeSaulles who was downed on his own 45 yard line. De Saulles punted to Marshall on Harvard's 45 yard line. Kernan then punted over Yale's goal line. DeSaulles punted to Kernan, who ran back to Yale's 20 yard line. The ball was brought back and kicked again. Bowditch was downed in midfield. Cutts gained 4 yards through Hogan. Ristino added one, more, and on the next play ran to Yale's 8 yard line, on a delayed pass, where he was tackled by DeSaulles.

Blagden did not gain through tackle, Cutts made 5 yards through Hogan. Blagden gained one yard. Cutts placed the ball one foot from the goal line and Blagden carried the ball over. Cutts kicked a difficult goal.

Score, Harvard 6; Yale 0.

DeSaulles kicked off to Marshall who was downed on Harvard's 35 yard line. Harvard gained 20 yards on an exchange of punts. Graydon got 4 yards through Goss, and Blagden made 3. Three line plays gained 6 yards.

Graydon made 6 yards on a delayed pass. Campbell was offside and Harvard lost 10 yards. Kernan lost around the end and then punted to Yale's 30 yard line. Hart made 3 yards and Chadwick 1 yard through Blagden.

DeSaulles punted to Marshall at midfield. Cutts made 7 through Goss. Double pass failed, and on the next play Cutts made 8 yards through Goss.

Graydon adds 12 more, putting the ball on Yale's 22 yard line. Ristine made 2 yards and Cutts 2 yards through Yale's tackles.

Graydon placed the ball on Yale's 12 yard line, first down. Cutts added 3, and Graydon made 4. First down on Yale's 5 yard line. Five minutes to play.

Ristine made 1 yard through Hogan, and on the next play carried the ball across for the second touchdown. Cutts kicked goal.

Score, Harvard 12; Yale 0.

Olcott kicked off to Marshall, who ran the ball back 50 yards to Yale's 45 yard line.

Graydon and Blagden made 6 yards in 3 plays, and Kernan made 6 yards through Goss. Harvard was held at the centre and Marshall dropped back to Yale's 45 yard line for a goal from the field as the time was nearly up. He kicked a beautiful goal.

Score, Harvard 17; Yale 0.

Olcott kicked off to Lee on Harvard's 35 yard line. Kernan punted 70 yards to DeSaulles, who was tackled by Campbell on Yale's 5 yard line. Time was called for the first half.

SECOND HALF.

Marshall kicked off to Weymouth, who was thrown by Greene on Yale's 25 yard line.

Campbell was slightly hurt. He resumed play, however. Weymouth gained 4 yards through left tackle. Hart did not gain and DeSaulles punted to Marshall, who ran 10 yards. Yale was given the ball for holding.

Campbell threw Chadwick for a loss and Weymouth could not gain through tackle. Greene was hurt but resumed play.

DeSaulles punted to Marshall, who was thrown on Harvard's 25 yard line. Graydon made 6 yards through Hogan. Cutts could not gain through the same hole.

Kernan punted 25 yards against the wind out of bounds at midfield. Weymouth made 6 yards through right tackle, and then 2 yards through the other tackle. Hart did not gain and DeSaulles made a quarterback kick of 20 yards to Marshall, who ran from his 15 yard line to Yale's 45 yard line.

DeSaulles tackled him and was injured. Marshall's foot hit his head. Metcalf took his place, as he was badly hurt.

Ristine gained 4 yards through tackle, and Cutts gained 4 more. Cutts fumbled, but Graydon recovered the ball on Yale's 30 yard line. Cutts made 8 yards, Ristine 7, both through left tackle.

Graydon made 4 yards in two plays and Cutts made first down on the 6 yard line. Cutts made 2 yards through tackle and then Graydon carried it across. Cutts missed goal.

Score, Harvard 22, Yale 0.

Metcalf kicked off and Graydon fumbled, but Campbell got the ball. Graydon made 8 yards, but Kernan lost 2. Kernan punted 30 yards to Hart.

Vanderpoel took Weymouth's place at fullback.

Yale was held, and Vanderpoel punted 40 yards to Marshall, who ran it back 15.

Graydon made 5 yards on two plays, and Kernan made 5 yards through Goss but was injured. He resumed play.

Graydon and Ristine made it first down in the middle of the field. Ristine, Cutts and Graydon gained 8 yards in three plays. Hogan was hurt but resumed play.

Yale got the ball on downs and Bowditch was slightly hurt. Vanderpoel punted 40 yards. Marshall fumbled and Hogan got the ball on Harvard's 22 yard line.

Hart made 3 yards and Vanderpoel 1 through the line. Vanderpoel made it first down through tackle. Hart added 4 around Campbell, Vanderpoel failed to gain through the line in two plays, and Harvard got the ball on downs.

Kernan punted 30 yards, but Bowditch interfered with the catch. Owsley took Chadwick's place.

Harvard got the ball on the 20 yard line for holding, and 3 line plays carried the ball 12 yards.

Johnson took Hamlin's place.

A series of short plunges by Graydon, Cutts, Ristine and Kernan carried the ball to the middle of the field.

Captain Gould was hurt and Rafferty took his place.

Marshall failed a goal from field from 36 yard line.
