Tufts Badly Beaten at Basketball. - An Improvement in Team-Play.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University basketball team defeated Tufts last night in the Gymnasium by the score of 52 to 8. Tufts was clearly outclassed from the beginning of the game in speed and accuracy of play. The playing both halves was very rough and was marked by frequent fouls that passed unnoticed. Harvard's only faults were delaying in caging the ball at the right moments and useless attempts at long shots. For Harvard, Lehmann and Gilles did the best individual work; Fiske played the best game for Tufts.

In the first half Harvard got the ball on the jump-off, and quickly worked it into Tuft's territory, Lehmann scoring from under the basket. By excellent passing and blocking off Harvard kept the ball entirely in Tuft's territory during this half, which ended with the score 31 to 0 in Harvard's favor.

Tufts improved greatly in the second half, and by breaking Harvard's cover, scored four baskets in succession. A series of trick plays returned the ball to Tuft's territory and Harvard's score was increased to 52. Harvard.  Tufts. Clark, l.g.  r.f., Clifford. Lehmann, r.g.  l.f., Fiske.
