Baseball at Yale.

With Robertson, Garvan and Cook available, Yale promises to be unusually strong in the pitching department of the baseball team this year. There is still doubt as to Cook's ability, however, for although he has speed and strong curves he is at times erratic and ineffective. It was on this account that it was found necessary to remove him from the pitcher's box to outfield last year, but his work since then has shown improvement.

As yet no definite arrangements have been made as to placing the men, but it is probable that Sharpe and Guernsey will remain at their old positions, first and third base, respectively, although, Guernsey may fill Camp's place at short-stop. Tobin and Parker seem to be the most promising infielders. The outfield, with the exception of Blount, is entirely unsettled as yet.

That Yale will have no professional coach this year is almost certain, though L. M. Johnson '02, who has played on professional teams, will assist Captain Robertson in developing the team. Besides, Johnson, Keator, Carter, Beall, Redington, Quinby and Camp--all graduates--will coach the team during the coming season. Yale intends to give especial attention to batting, realizing that this department must be strengthened to insure success.

This year the training table will be at the University Club. Thus far the following men have reported for the different positions:
