The University basketball team was defeated by the Fall River Y. M. C. A. team at Fall River Saturday night by the score of 23 to 17. Smith, left guard for Harvard, was unable to play on account of illness, and Underwood took his place. This change in the Harvard line-up at the last moment weakened the teamwork. The game was fast and snappy from the very beginning, and the score at the end of the first half was 9 to 9. The second half was even more closely contested than the score shows for Harvard kept the ball in her opponents' territory much of the time, but lost the game by missing easy tries for goals.
