NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

President Eliot has received the following letter from the Secretary of Yale University:

NEW HAVEN, CONN., May 20, 1901.

Charles W: Eliot; LL.D., President Harvard University,

MY DEAR SIR:--I am directed by the Executive Committee which has in charge the Bicentennial Celebration at Yale to invite the Undergraduates of your University to send a delegation of twenty-five men to take part in the torchlight procession of Monday evening, October 21. Arrangements will be made whereby the students composing this Undergraduate delegation from Harvard will be entertained by the students of Yale. Appropriate caps and torches will be provided by the Yale authorities and if the students could bring Harvard flags with them it would add to the effect of the procession, which is to include the alumni and students of Yale, as well as delegations from Harvard and Princeton and our sister institutions in this State, Wesleyan and Trinity.

I would esteem it a favor if you would see that this invitation is communicated to the student body through the proper channel.

I am, Sir, with high regard, Very truly yours,   ANSON PHELPS STOKES, JR.,

Secretary.
