Co-operative Sales in 1901-1902.

The total sales of the Co-operative Society for the year ending June 30, 1902, amounted to $259,815.21. This amount was divided among the departments as follows: Books, $69,630.22: stationery $41,120.29; men's furnishings, $43,618,29; tailoring, $28,105,36; coal and wood, $14,399.24; furniture, $15,415.43; medical branch, $47,326,38. The total sales in 1900-01 were $246,337,49.

From these figures it will be seen that the business is rapidly increasing and demands more room. As it is now the store is crowded, and unless more room is provided, the business cannot continue to expand as it has in the last year. The furniture department was moved to 28 Church street in order to relieve the overcrowded condition of Dane Hall.

Up to October 4, 2400 men joined the Society as compared to 2186 last year for the same period. An increase is also shown in sales. From July 1 to October 4, inclusive, the sales amounted to $66,817.12 as compared to $56,601.77 for the year before, which shows a gain of $10,215.35 for this year.

From last year's business the dividends amount to $10,956.14 as compared to $8,692.55 the year before. This makes it possible to declare an eight per cent dividend.

The detailed report of the board of directors for the year 1901-02 will be published about the middle of November.
