The November number of the Monthly has for its main article an essay by W. H. L. Bell '04, called "Maurice Hewlett: Impressions." The general effect produced by the essay is that of a clear cut, earnest effort in literary criticism, although its style might be improved by a simpler and less fantastic choice of words. Of the two stories in the number, "Old Parness," by L. M. Crosbie '04, presents a strong incident simply told, while "Her Kings," by V. Van M. Beede '04, contains rather too much French to be thoroughly enjoyable. "Our Contemporary Poets," by Ernest Bernbaum '03, is a carefully constructed piece of work.
