The results of the University track games held on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon were on the whole satisfactory. The track was a little heavy, especially on the turns, but was as solid as could be expected after the recent wet weather.

The time in the 100 yards dash, 120 yards hurdles, 220 yards hurdles, 220 yards dash and two mile run was better than in the University games of last year. J. G. Willis '03 won the 220 yards hurdles again this year, cutting down his time made in last year's games by 4-5 of a second. One of the most interesting events of the afternoon was the 440 yards run which was won by G. Fry '04 by a strong spurt at the finish. The event, perhaps, would have been better contested if J.G. Willis '02, M. T. Lightner '03 and E. C. Rust '04 had entered as expected. In the two-mile run, W. A. Colwell 1G. ran a very strong race, obtaining first place in 10m. 25 4 5s. J. H. Hall '03 took the lead in the first lap with C. M. Frothingham '03 second. On the second lap Colwell went to the front and kept the lead to the end. Frothingham and Hall struggled for second place up to the last lap, when J. H. Stone '04 passing Frothingham, took third place. The first mile was made in 5m. 12s. Colwell who won first place is however ineligible to compete in outside games this year, having represented a western college in a track meet last year.

In the mile run E. W. Mills '02 took the lead for the first lap. In the second, H. S. Knowles '02 took the lead and held it to the end. In the first lap F. S. Buffum '04 made several spurts in attempting to pass Knowles but was unsuccessful.

A number of Freshmen secured places in the games which makes the outlook for next year very encouraging. Among the Freshmen the work of W. A. Schick and J. Q. Tingley was especially good. Schick broke the Harvard record in the 220 yards dash and also ran the 100 yards dash in 10 seconds, which was remarkably good work considering the condition of the track. Tingley won first place in the shot put with a put of 42 ft. 4 1-2 in.
