GARDEN CITY, N. Y., May 5.--The sixth annual intercollegiate golf tournament between Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Pennsylvania and Columbia will begin tomorrow on the links of the Garden City Golf Club. Harvard will play Pennsylvania in the morning in the preliminary round of 18 holes, and the winning team will play Columbia in the afternoon in the semi-finals. Yale will play Princeton tomorrow and the winning team will play in the final match of 36 holes, which will be played Wednesday. The individual championship matches will be played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
At a meeting of the captains today, it was voted to resume regular method of scoring, having one point for every hole won. It was also voted that the make-up of the teams might be changed after each match, if found desirable.
The result of the drawing tonight was very favorable to Harvard as Pennsylvania has no players of special prominence. Harvard should also defeat Columbia in semi-finals and thus play in the final round. Princeton is weakened by the loss of Tyne and Congdon, so that it seems sure that Yale will qualify for the final round.
The orders of the teams have been made as follows:
Harvard--1, Brown; 2, Richardson; 3, W. E. Egan; 4, Murdock; 5, Lindsley; 6, H. C. Egan.
Pennsylvania--1, McFarland; 2, Calvert; 3, Hill; 4, Williams; 5, Lindsay; 6, Castner.
Yale--1, Hitchcock; 2, Jennings; 3, Reid; 4, Campbell; 5, Alsop; 6, Barnes.
Princeton--1, Reinhardt; 2. Wilson; 3, Brokaw; 4, Poole; 5, Smith; 6, Garretson.
Columbia--1, Jackson; 2, Glenny; 3, Bates; 4, Nash; 5, Edwards; 6, Stevens.
