By action of the Athletic Committee M. Piancelli's services as fencing instructor, have been secured this year for the entire season. This is an advance for the sport; in previous years instruction has never lasted longer than two months, and M. Piancelli, among the best of French masters, is by far the most competent teacher ever secured for the University. The work will begin on Monday, October 19, in the fencing room in the basement of the Gymnasium. Thereafter instruction will be given from 3 to 6 o'clock on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It is open to all fencers in the University, whether or not candidates for the teams. As M. Piancelli cannot handle more than twenty men in one day, his appointments will be filled by the captain of the University team according to the interest and ability shown in the game.

There are four class teams, a Law School team, and the University team to be picked. The class teams will be managed by their respective captains; for 1904, A. Tyug, for 1905, W. MacLeod, for 1906, J. R. Nichols, for the Law School, H. J. Elam. The class tournament will be fought in December; the Intercollegiate Tournament in March at New York. Dual tournaments with Yale and Cornell will come between Christmas and the Intercollegiate Tournament.

The call for candidates has been made for Wednesday night. Those who make the University team are given a fencing H; the winning class team receives its fencing numerals.
