At 1 o'clock today Professor W. M. Davis will explain the use of the Foucicault pendulum hung in the well of the staircase from the roof of the geological wing of the University Museum. He will show how the latitude may be determined by the apparent deviation of the pendulum from its plane of swinging which is caused by the rotation of the earth.
