Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
The Williams 1905 debating team defeated the Sophomores at Williamstown on Saturday. The Williams team had the negative side of the question, and won by shifting the burden of proof on their opponents. The question was: "Resolved, That the best industrial interests of the United States demand the immediate, absolute abolition of all customs duties on the raw materials and rough products of iron and steel; such as pig-iron, scrap-iron and steel ingots."
The Sophomore team was J. Lebowich, I. I. Mattuck, J. F. Dore and W. H. Davis, alternate. The Williams debaters were W. F. Pettit, H. B. Howe, A. P. Newell and W. A. Swan, alternate.
President Hopkins of Williams presided and the judges were Mr. J. A. Whittaker, Judge Carlton J. Phelps and Mr. T. W. Sykes.
