Work of the Graded Crews.

Three graded crews are now rowing from each of the boat clubs in preparation for the spring graded races which will be held next Thursday.

The work of all three boats at the Newell has been poor, and the men have improved very little. All the crews show the common faults of washing out at the finish, and they are also slow at the catch.

At the Weld the first boat, which has so far been doing the best work, has just lost four of its best men, and as all of their places have been taken by new material, their progress has been seriously retarded. The second crew rows better together than either of the others, but the work of the men individually is crude. As the order of the third boat has been continually changed the men have had no chance to get accustomed to each other, and therefore do not row well together.
