The practice of the University baseball squad yesterday consisted almost entirely of a practice game with the Freshmen. The rules of the game were not strictly adhered to the work being for the most part devoted to giving the University nine practice in base-running. As has been the case in all the games of late, the men were slow in taking advantage of their chances, and were caught repeatedly by sharp throwing on the part of the Freshmen. The batting, too, was weak and uncertain, the hits being too widely scattered to be effective.
