A Club House for Manila.

Rev. Henry Russell Talbot '95, in a talk last Friday night on "American Life in Manila," made a plea for help among undergraduates of the University for furnishing the Living Room of a prospective club house in Manila for the use of Americans there.

There are in the city of Manila today more than 500 Americans acting as clerks and stenographers in civil and commercial life. In great measure the efficiency of American occupancy depends upon these young men. There are no opportunities in the city for healthy relaxation, amusement and exercise. To meet this need a sum of $25,000 has been given to construct a building which shall contain a gymnasium, reading room, billiard room, etc. To furnish these rooms, committees have been formed at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and the University of Pennsylvania. The Yale committee has agreed to furnish the gymnasium at a cost of $1,400. Princeton the billiard room. Pennsylvania the reading room, at $1,000 each. A committee of Harvard undergraduates is attempting to raise the $1,000 necessary to furnish the common room, which will be known as the Harvard Room Contributions are earnestly asked for, and may be sent to Archibald M.
