Second Nine Defeats Adams.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Second nine yesterday defeated Adams Academy in a loosely played game by the score of 18 to 1. The Second nine batted well, several times bunching their hits with good effect, but played a careless game in the field. The fielding of the Adams Academy team was crude and unsteady, their errors being responsible for nearly half of the Second nine's runs; their batting was for the most part weak, but included the two longest hits of the game.

Tuckerman pitched a good game for the Second nine, allowing only two bases on balls; for Adams, Hoxe was freely hit, and lost his head at critical times. Parker and Marshall did the best batting for the Second nine.

The score by innings follows:   1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9 Harvard Second,  1  5  4  1  1  4  2  0  x--18 Adams,  0  0  0  0  0  0  0  1  0--1
