Basketball Team Weak on Defense.

In practice yesterday afternoon the University basketball team defeated the second team by the score of 42 to 14. The work of the first team was discouraging throughout and only for short periods did the men show fast and consistent team-work. On the defense the covering was wretched and the small score which was run up by the second team was due simply to inaccuracy in shooting for easy baskets.

Much, attention will be devoted this week to the physical condition of the men. The practice halves and the regular runs after each practice will be lengthened and strict training maintained for the remainder of the season. Bigelow and Randall, who were injured in the Columbia game, were both in the practice yesterday.
