FIRST SECRET PRACTICE

Division Into First and Second Squads Scrimmage Fairly Even

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Secret practice of the University eleven was held yesterday afternoon for the first time this year, and will be continued until the end of the season. Some arrangement will be made, however, for giving the University an opportunity to see the work of the team, either before the secret practice each day, or by holding open practice from time to time. The work yesterday was in preparation for the Pennsylvania game, and consisted of teaching the men new plays and formations. In the scrimmage, which was fairly even, both sides frequently resorted to punting. The first team scored one touchdown against the second. None of the men who played through the West Point game took part in the line-up, although they ran through signal practice. Parkinson took part in the game a few minutes, for the first time this year. He was tried at guard, a new position for him. Brill, Oveson and Derby took part in the signal practice, but were not in the scrimmage. W. T. Harrison '05, substitute fullback in 1902 and 1903, and F. W. O'Connell 1L. were out yesterday for the first time.

The men were divided into a first and second squad, the University squad being as follows: Montgomery, Filley, Whitman, Shurtleff, Leary, Blagden, Hall, Meier, Paul, Carr, Sibley, Oveson, Derby, Brill, Parker, Squires, McFadon, Wilder, Parkinson, Barney, Cunniff, Noyes, Kernan, Hurley, Mills, Nichols, Hanley, Osborne, Wendell, Sperry, Nesmith, Reynolds.
