During the past two months the rope fire escapes in all the University dormitories have been replaced by new ones of the same pattern but with heavier ropes. Fire escapes of this kind have also been placed in all bedrooms above the first floor of all University dormitories hitherto unprovided with fire escapes.

Fifty-four new Badger fire extinguishers have been installed in the University buildings this spring, in addition to the 25 installed last year. The total 79 are distributed among the various buildings as follows: one in each entry of Hollis; one in each entry of Hollis; one in each entry and one in the porter's room of Stoughton; one on each stairway between the second and third floors of Holworthy; one in each entry and one in the porter's room of Thayer; two in each entry and one in the porter's room of Weld; one in the porter's room of Wadsworth; one in room 37, one in the second floor hall, and one in the basement of Sever; one in the hall on each floor of Boylston; one in the porter's room of Walter Hastings; one in the Bursar's office; one in the porter's room of Perkins; one at the staircase of Warren House; one on the second and one on the fourth floor of Lawrence Hall; one in the Germanic Museum; one in the Studio Building on Jarvis street; one near the rear entrance of Appleton Chapel; one in the basement of Phillips Brooks House; one in the office and one in the locker room of the Gymnasium; two in each entry and one in the porter's room of Matthews; one in the Fogg Art Museum; one in Foxcroft House; one in the cast, one in the west and two in the middle entry of Grays; one on the second and one on the fourth floor at the small stairway, and one in the porter's room of Holyoke; one in the stairway between the third and fourth floors, one in the second floor hall, one in the third floor hall, and one in the porter's room of College House; one in the hall of Gannett House; one in the first floor stack, one in the second floor stack one in the reading room, one in the basement, and one in the toilet room of the Library; one in the first and one in the second floor hall of Divinity; one in the first floor hall of the Divinity Library; one in the basement of the New Lecture Hall; one on the first floor of the Astronomical Building; five (not yet set up) in Austin Hall; one in the upper laboratory of Dane Hall; one in the Janitor's room, and one in the office of the inspector of Grounds and Buildings, Massachusetts Hall; one in the basement of Harvard Hall; one in the basement of Harvard Hall; one near the door of Holden Chapel.
