The Freshman lacrosse team was defeated by the Polytechnic Preparatory School of Brooklyn in the Stadium on Saturday afternoon by a score of 4 to 1. This was the Freshmen's first game of the season. The offensive play of the Freshman team was much weaker than it has been, but on the defense the team made a creditable showing. Cochrane at third defense and Sheip at goal covered their positions especially well.

Polytechnic with half of last year's team, had a decided advantage in experience, and had won all four of its previous games this season. Captain Wardell excelled for his side.

The summary:

Score-Polytechnic, 4: Harvard 1909 1. Goals-Dexeroux, Wardell, Van Cleaf, Campbell, Belcher. Referee H Wynne M.'02. Goal umpire A. W. Sampson '09. Umpire-M. Moses Crescent A. C. Time-20 minute halves.
