HARVARD, 7; ANDOVER, 2

Hockey Team Played Ragged Game Against Andover's Strong Defense.

The University hockey team defeated Andover yesterday afternoon in the Stadium by the score of 7 to 2. The play on the whole was rather ragged, but at times the University team showed good team work and shot accurately. The game was hard and fast, as well as free from roughness.

At the beginning of the first half the work of the University team was very poor, but by spasmodic team work two goals were scored by Townsend and Newhall respectively. Toward the end of the half the puck was near Harvard's goal most of the time, but the clever work of the defense prevented any scoring. In the second half the University team took a decided brace, and scored twice almost immediately, making five goals in all during the half. Andover scored twice; one time as the result of a concerted attack, and the second time by an opportune shot when the Harvard team was changing goal keepers.

Individually the University forwards played well. When they passed the puck properly, they experienced little difficulty in keeping it near Andover's goal, but there was an evident tendency on the part of the men not to pass the puck at the right times. They relied too much on their individual efforts. Cover point was the weakest position on the team throughout the game, neither of the two men playing there was as effective defensively as the University points and goals.

Andover played a steady and spirited game throughout both halves. Foster at cover point proved himself a valuable man on the offensive as well as on the defensive, and Merritt, who played right centre, also rushed the puck well and did some accurate shooting.
