CREW WORK BEGINS TODAY

For University Squad.--Prospects for Year.

By R. L. Bacon.

The University crew squad will begin work this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the University Boat House. The squad will row in the tank until the weather is mild enough to go out on the river. Coach Wray will again have charge of the work.

Of last year's eight, the following six men are in College and will report today: Captain R. L. Bacon '07, S. W. Fish '08, G. G. Glass '08, C. Morgan, Jr., '08, J. Richardson '08, and R. M. Tappan '07. From last year's four-oar crew only one man, G. G. Ball '08, will row this spring. L. Burchard '07, of the 1905 University crew, and E. Farley '07, of the 1905 four-oar crew, are both eligible to row again this year. R. M. Faulkner '09 and L. K. Lunt '09, the two substitutes who accompanied the crew to England last summer, are promising oarsmen, and should be valuable this spring. In addition, there will be several men of last year's squad who have had experience on class crews, last year's Freshman crew; and several men who showed promise in the graded crew races last fall.

An extensive season has been planned for the spring, including races with Cornell at Ithaca, and Columbia on the Charles, in addition to the annual rowing regatta with Yale at New London. These two preliminary races should give the University eight valuable racing experience in preparation for the contest with Yale.
