Mr. Charles M. Jesup gave a very interesting lecture on "The Responsibilities of Citizenship," under the auspices of the Political Club, in the Living Room, of the Union, last evening.
Mr. Jesup was the instigator of the idea of forming the Intercollegiate Civic League, which was started exactly one year ago. The three aims of the League are non-partisanship, the promotion of honest citizenship and the elevation of poltical life. Mr. Jesup showed how the two great present issues of immigration and capital and labor demand that every man take an active and not a passive interest in the government of the country. He pointed out that the responsibility in the home, being the unit of our social life, is a phase of citizenship which cannot be ignored, and that to shirk from the responsibility of putting the control of the government into able hands is nothing short of criminal.
