The Freshman baseball team won an uninteresting game from the Brown freshmen yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field by the score of 3 to 0. Lanigan's pitching was not as good as usual, although only one hit was made against him. With two exceptions he received excellent support in the field. The batting of the team against a poor pitcher was very discouraging. Many easy chances for runs were lost by the inability of the team to hit the ball when hits were needed. Hall was the best at the bat, getting a single and a three-bagger.
The Freshmen made all their runs in the fifth inning. Pond led off with a single, took second on Palmer's hit, and came home on Hall's three-bagger, which also scored Palmer. Hall came home on Lanigan's single.
The summary: Earned run--1910. Three-base hit--Hall. Sacrifice hits--Almy 2, McCarthy. Stolen base--Regnier. Bases on balls--by Lanigan, 5; by Bliss, 2. Struck out--by Lanigan, 13; by Bliss, 5 Umpire--Lincoln. Time--1h. 35m.
