The Freshman second crew will race Springfield High School on the Charles river this afternoon at 6 o'clock. The race will be rowed downstream over the one and one-quarter mile course, ending at the Union boathouse. Owing to the unfavorable condition of the tide in the middle of the afternoon it was found necessary to set a late hour for the start.
The Yale freshman first eight succeeded in defeating Springfield by a length earlier in the season. As the Freshman second crew is in an unsettled condition, the chances of winning seem to favor Springfield.
The orders of the crews will be as follows:
Freshman Second--Stroke, Hurd; 7, Beard; 6, Davis; 5, MacLeod; 4, Waide; 3, Hadden; 2, Jose; bow, H. Morgan; cox., Warren.
Springfield High--Stroke, Alstron; 7, Hicks; 6, Parsons; 5, Wilson; 4, Bennett; 3, Read; 2, Mathison; bow, Foster; cox., Lincoln.
