Freshmen Defeated Groton, 6 to 0

For the first time in five years the Freshman football team defeated Groton School, at Groton, Saturday afternoon, by the score of 6 to 0. The Freshman team was the heavier, but Groton showed superior knowledge of the game and displayed more team work.

Considering the fact that it was the Freshmen's first game, and that after only ten days of practice, the result is very encouraging. Fumbling was in evidence on both sides, and was the direct cause of Harvard's touchdown. The score came after three or four minutes of play in the first half. Groton was in possession of the ball on its own 30-yard line, when Paine intercepted a forward pass and fell on the ball on the 25-yard line. The Freshmen then went through Groton's line for good gains and scored a touchdown in six rushes. Smith kicked the goal.
