SUBSTITUTES PLAYED SECOND

Secret Practice With no Scrimmage for University Eleven.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University football team had only light practice yesterday afternoon and after a 30-minute secret session the men on the first eleven were dismissed. The University substitutes had a scrimmage with the second team, in which they scored one touchdown. In the secret practice Gray and Sprague punted and the ends had the usual practice of running down under the kicks. Then the team was put on the field to receive kick-offs and started from this formation several times. About half of the period was given to signal practice, and some slight changes in the present formations were tried out.

In the scrimmage, which lasted about fifteen minutes. Forchheimer received the kick-off and Sprague punted back to the second, who lost the ball on a fumble. Crocker was thrown for loss by Blanchard. The substitutes again got the ball and in a series of line plunges by Kennard and Forchheimer carried it down to the second's 5-yard line. Long went through centre for a touchdown and Dunlap kicked the goal. The rest of the scrimmage was devoted to practicing the forward pass and breaking through for the line-men.
