The fourth annual Freshman track meet was held yesterday afternoon in the Stadium. On the whole the meet was very successful, and in spite of the cold weather records were broken in the 880-yard run, the 220-yard dash, and the two-mile run. The times made in several of the events, however, were not so good as those of last year. The number of entries fell below the average of previous years.
The following is a summary of events:
Track Events.
120-yard low hurdles--Won by A. R. Dupont; second, H. E. Eaton. Time, 15 2-5s.
100-yard dash--Won by P. C. Cummin; second, D. P. Ranney. Time, 10 4-5s.
880-yard run--Won by W. H. Fernald; second, L. H. Chenoweth. Time, 2m. 6 1-5s.
Mile run--Won by P. R. Withington; second, S. S. Hanks. Time, 5m. 5s.
Two-mile run--Won by H. L. Groves; second, G. Boyd. Time, 11m. 11 4-5s.
220-yard dash--Won by K. S. Billings; second, W. M. Parker. Time, 24s.
440-yard dash--Won by W. H. Fernald; second, P. C. Cummin. Time, 55 4-5s.
Field Events.
Running high jump--Won by A. K. Keay, second W. A. Perkins. Height, 5ft. 4 3-8in.
Running broad jump--Won by A. K. Keay; second, L. C. Torrey. Distance, 20ft.
Pole-vault--Won by J. A. King; R. Murray and L. C. Torrey tied for second. Torrey won jump-off. Height, 9ft. 6in.
Putting 16-1b. shot--Won by A. Strong; second, W. M. Parker. Distance, 33ft. 7in.
16-1b. hammer-throw -- Won by A. Strong; second, W. M. Parker. Distance, 93ft. 5in.
