The seventeenth annual intercollegiate chess tournament between Harvard, Columbia, Yale, and Princeton will be held this year in New York at the West Side Republican Club, December 21, 22, and 23. The order of matches will be as follows: December 21--Harvard vs. Yale, Columbia vs. Princeton; December 22--Harvard vs. Columbia, Yale vs. Princeton, Yale vs. Columbia. The following will represent the University: E. H. Gruening 2M., K. S. Johnson 2G., W. W. Parshley '09, F. P. Byerly '11, D. B. Childs '10, substitute.

The play each day will be from 1 to 6 o'clock and from 8 to 10 o'clock. All games unfinished within the time limit will be decided by H. Helms, referee, and J. Finn, adjudicator. A. W. Fox will direct the play.

The tournament has been won by Harvard nine times, by Columbia seven times, and by Yale once. The intercollegiate cup, which was won by Columbia last year, is held one year by the winning team, every member of which receives a silver medal. To gain permanent possession of the cup, a team must win the championship for ten successive years.

Following is the collegiate record for the team this fall: October 30--Harvard 7 1-2, Brown 2 1-2; November 13--Harvard 4, Dartmouth 1; November 20--Harvard 8 1-2, Yale 1 1-2; November 23--Harvard 4 1-2, Technology 1 1-2.
