Many Hockey Candidates Reported

A meeting of all candidates for the University and Freshman hockey teams was held last night in Holworthy 9. Captain J. P. Willetts '09 outlining the plans for the coming season, said that there would be no gymnasium practice or runs as was the case last year, as it had been decided to wait until practice could be held on the ice. He urged the men to begin training now as the first game, that with Columbia, would come soon after the Christmas vacation. When the ice is suitable there will be regular class teams and class captains will be elected. Coach Donovan, who was trainer of the University squad last year, then emphasized the necessity of consistent training, both now and during vacation.

Although three members of the University team have graduated, the prospects for a successful season are very encouraging. The following men who have won their hockey "H," will be eligible: forwards--G. P. Gardner '10, J. A. Paine '09, S. T. Hicks '10; cover-points--S. S. Ford '09, T. Briggs '09; points--T. S. Sampson '09, J. P. Willetts '09; goal--F. A. B. Washburn '09. The following are the most promising candidates from last year's champion Freshman team: forwards--D. F. Cutler, E. R. Dick, R. Hornblower; cover-point--H. N. Foster; goal--N. J. Beals. There are also several valuable second team wen who have had much experience practicing with the first team.
