The Freshman track team defeated Phillips Exeter Academy at Exeter Saturday by the score of 59 1-2 points to 44 1-2. Exeter won only one of the track events, the two-mile, and the Freshmen won only one of the field events, the broad jump. J. P. Long '11 won both hurdles and the broad jump; R. C. Foster '11 won both dashes; and Captain H. Jaques, Jr., '11 won both the mile and half-mile very easily, but in slow time. No especially good performances were made, except the 100-yard dash, which went to Foster in 10 1-5 seconds, and the high jump, which Burlingame of Exeter won at 5 feet, 8 inches. Burlingame also won the pole-vault at 10 feet. The 440-yard dash was done in the very fair time of 53 3-5 seconds by H. W. Kelley '11. In the hammer-throw Exeter got all three places, Anderson winning with a throw of 148 feet, 4 inches.
