PETITION WELL RECEIVED

Co-operation Accepted.--Decision Left With Athletic Committee.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The petition to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, bearing the names of 1606 undergraduates, was presented to the Faculty yesterday afternoon. The Faculty unanimously adopted the following statement in reply:

"The Faculty warmly welcomes the co-operation of the students in checking the evils believed to result from intercollegiate games. It feels that these evils have been in part due to an excessive number of games, but recognizing that the students appreciate that there are evils to be cured it gladly refers their petition to the Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports, requesting it to confer with the students or their representatives."

Thus the Athletic Committee is empowered to receive the petition and to weigh the undergraduates' views in taking action on the pending legislation hostile to winter sports. A meeting of the Committee has been called for next Monday night at 7.30 o'clock.
