Commemoration of Harvard's Birth

To commemorate the three hundred and second anniversary of the birth of John Harvard, which historians have placed on November 29, 1607, although the date is not certain, the preacher at the morning prayers in Appleton Chapel on Monday morning, the Rev. Francis J. McConnell, D.D., LL.D., president of De Pauw University, Greencastle, Indiana, will select his subject with special reference to the occasion. Last year this service was omitted, but the three hundredth anniversary in 1907 was made the occasion of a great undergraduate celebration. It is expected that henceforth the birthday will be marked by a brief address similar to the one to be given in Appleton Chapel on Monday.
