Over 40 members of the University hockey squad reported for practice on Hammond's Pond on Saturday afternoon. The ice was in excellent condition and a long, hard practice was held. Huntington, the most promising candidate for point, and Leslie, a substitute forward last season, reported yesterday for the first time.
After a long preliminary practice, in which the squad was divided up into five sections and four forwards sent against three defence men, the University forwards, with various defence combinations, played a 50-minute game with the second team. The University forwards completely outplayed the second team forwards but were prevented from scoring more than five goals chiefly on account of the excellent work of Black-all at point. Huntington's playing on the University defence rendered it almost impregnable to the second team forwards.
The line-ups: R. S. Townsend '07 was present and coached the second team. T. S. Sampson '09 coached the University defence.
