The feature of the South Boston athletic Club track meet, held in Mechanics Hall Saturday evening, was the relay race between the University and the Boston Athletic Association teams. Harvard won a keenly contested race in the excellent time of 3 min., 13 2-5 sec., Merrihew beating out Gram by six yards in the last lap, after both had fallen. In the first relay, R.C. Foster '11 ran against E. E. Nelson of the B. A. A., and the former, although the farther from the pole, jumped into the lead, and held it until the last corner, when the two finished on even terms. In the second relay D. P. Danney '12 got away ahead of Bradley and kept a lead of a couple of yards, which he gave to deSelding. Prout overcame this lead, and Gram got away a few yards ahead of Merrihew in the last relay. With a lap to go, Merrihew set out to catch Gram and was even with him at the first corner. Here Gram ran a bit wide and Merrihew, in trying to take the pole, collided with him, both runners falling. The Harvard man was the first to regain his feet, and finished six yards in the lead.

The special 780-yard rice for Harvard men proved to be very evenly contested. S.C. Simons '11 took the lead at the start and held it until the last lap, when W.H. Fernald '12 passed him, with G.W. Ryley '10 and R. Warren '10 closely following. The men finished in this order, the time being 1m., 50 3-5s.

The handicap 600-yard run was easily won by H.M. Warren 13, who started from the 26-yard mark, in the good time of 1m., 18s. H.P. Lawless '13, with a handicap of 14 yards, came in third.

In the 40-yard dash, handicap, M. Steinhardt '11, with 6 1-2 feet, took third place, P.H. Keays '13, with 6 feet, 6 inches, won second in the shot-put, with a total distance of 4 ft., 8 in. In the running high jump O.M. Chadwick '11 won second place, the height being 6ft., 1-2 in.
