The University and Freshman soccer teams were given a light warming up practice under Captain Byng on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. About 45 men reported, a record for the first day, but owing to the amount of acreage that is given over to football fields this fall the facilities for practice were somewhat inadequate. No regular line-up went onto the field, but University and Freshman candidates were mixed up to make two teams, and every man was given a little individual instruction.
Candidates from the class of 1914 for second assistant manager of the soccer team will be called out tomorrow, and should meet in Thayer 32 at 7 o'clock. The work of the competition will be outlined. No experience in previous competitions is necessary.
