Practice for Team, Which Needs Support of New Players, Starts Today.

The fall season for the University soccer team will start on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 3.30 o'clock. Because of the graduation of all except five members of last year's team, the fall workout will be of great importance in the development of new material. With this object in view the first days of practice will be devoted to learning the rudiments. Captain H. G. Francke '14 and Coach Burgess, who will have charge again this year, are especially desirous that all men who have had any experience should report regularly. This will also be an excellent opportunity for inexperienced players, so that it is hoped that a large number of new men will report.

Last year the team had a most successful season, winning the league championship. The five veterans in College this year are G. M. Carnochan '14, H. G. Francke '14, F. C. Grant '14, S. T. Hopkins '14, and B. Nichols '15. Several substitutes will also be on hand. Coach Burgess will be assisted by D. Needham '13, who was last spring given a position on the all-American team. The principal game of the fall season will probably be one with Princeton at Princeton on the morning of Saturday, November 8.
