To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

If the cut of a proposed new front for the Co-operative Society, published in a recent number of the CRIMSON, was intended to serve as a horrible example, it fulfills its purpose. Seeing that the efforts of professional architects have had such feeble results, would it not be well to hold a prize competition for designs among the members of our School of Architecture? It would arouse interest there by presenting the students with a concrete problem amid conditions with a which they are familiar. The decision would furthermore have the advantage of Professor Duquesne's judgement, and could be brought into harmony with his plans for improving the appearance of Harvard square. PHILIP MCMAHON 1G.
