After two weeks of practice, the University swimming team is fast assuming definite shape. E. B. Starbuck '14 is assisting Coach Mann, and both have been working hard to get the 40 men now composing the squad ready for the first meets.
From all indications the team will be one of the strongest the University has ever had. The one weak spot seems to be in the long distance swims, the 100-and 220-yard events, for which very few men are available. Captain B. M. Fullerton '16, J. Putnam '15, and F. G. C. O'Neill '15, are the only men who have so far shown any marked ability at these distances.
The other events, however, seem to be amply cared for. Captain Gibb, Wentworth and Chadwick, of last year's Freshman team, are all showing well in the 50-yard swim, as is F. C. Seymour '17. The divers seem to be exceptionally good, especially F. R. Munroe '16, R. R. Small '16, of last year's team, and S. Hall '16, while J. Greenough '15, and A. Dixon 3d, '16, are making good distance in the plunges.
