Combine Debate Trials With Prize

An opportunity is open to all members of the University to compete for the Coolidge Prize of $100 which will be awarded the best undergraduate speaker at the final trials for the University debating teams which meet Yale and Princeton. The first trials will be held Tuesday evening, February 17, in Harvard 5 and 6, at 7 o'clock. There will be five minute speeches on this question: "Resolved, That the women of the United States should be given the suffrage on equal terms with men." Candidates interested in this subject should send their names to R. L. West, Stoughton 7. About 18 or 20 men will be retained for the second trials on February 20. The twelve men retained from the semi-final elimination will be divided into four teams of three each. On Saturday, February 28, two teams will debate in the afternoon and two in the evening. Six men will be retained for the team, besides three alternates. The best speaker at these final trials will be awarded the prize of $100.

D. C. Howard 3L., formerly coach for the 1910-11 team, assisted by C. E. Dunbar 3L., will coach the teams. Both the 1910-11 team and the team last year won the debates with Yale and Princeton.
