The fact that John R. Mott was widely known to men who had been engaged in work in Young Men's Christian Associations throughout the country accounts probably for the substantial and persistent increase in attendance at morning chapel during the past week. It is to be hoped that the healthy interest which was created by a strong man in the pulpit will continue this week under Doctor Fitch who stands, singularly enough, like Mr. Mott at the head of a world-wide mission movement. As we have observed before the calibre of the man determines the size of the audience and such voluntary attendance is by far the best form of chapel going.
Aside from this the fact that Holy Week is to be observed by special services should claim attention.
