HARD PROPOSITION AT ITHACA

TRACK MEN ARE NOT OVERCONFIDENT IN TODAY'S MEET WITH CORNELL.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The second annual dual track meet with Cornell will be held at Ithaca, N. Y., this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Prospects for a victory for the University are by no means as bright as at the first of the week, due to the many losses that the team has suffered during the past few days.

Cornell, is especially strong in the sprints and runs. Reller, barring acci- dent, will certainly win the 100-yard dash for Cornell, and Ingersoll or Lewis should secure second place. With W. J. Bingham '16 and W. A. Barron, Jr., '14, running in the 220-yard dash, the University will probably secure a first in this event, but the secondary places in both the dashes will probably go to Cornell. Although A. L. Jackson '14 has not yet rounded into his usual good from, he will probably show up well in both hurdle events, as Cornell is unusually weak in this department.

With W. W. Kent '16 out of the one mile run, first place in this is generally conceded to Speiden of Cornell who won the tow-mile run in last year's dual meet. The 880-yard run will probably be the most interesting of the afternoon as Caldwell and Speiden will both be strong contenders against F. W. Capper '15, and E. P. Stone '15. In the two-mile run R. St. B. Boyd '14 and F. H. Blackman, '14 should be able to finish ahead of Cornell's best men, Hoffmire and Potter, who are inexperienced runners from last year's Freshman team.

In the field events the University team has some very strong men in H. S. Sturgis '15 and H. D. Burch '14 in the hammer-throw, J. B. Camp '15 in the high jump and pole-vault, J. O. Johnstone '16 in the high jump and broad jump, and C. E. Brickley '15 and H. R. Hardwick '15 in the shot-put. Morrison and Van Kennen of Cornell will however, prove very powerful opponents in the high jump and pole-vault respectively.

Thirty-three men left for Ithaca on Thursday evening accompanied by assistant manager J. Greenough '15, Coaches Donovan and Powers and rubbers Fowler and Smith. They had a short workout at Ithaca yesterday afternoon.
