DECIDE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

The match for the college tennis championship in doubles, played on Jarvis Field yesterday, was easily won by E. H. Whitney '14 and J. J. Armstrong '14 by the score 6-2, 6-1 over their opponents J. E. Gale '17 and R. Z. Crane '17. The latter team recently won the doubles tournament, but were decidedly outclassed by the representatives of the University team, who also won the title of college champions last year. They did not give their opponents of yesterday a chance to get started throughout the two sets of the match.

Whitney and Armstrong played an aggressive game, frequently coming to the net for hard smashes. Their long, hard drives from the back line were also made to tell. In the first set, Gale and Crane captured two games after the title winners had taken three straight, but in the concluding set they were even less successful, landing but one game with the score 5-0 against them.
