Members of the class of 1917 desiring to compete for the positions of second assistant business manager of the CRIMSON will report at the CRIMSON Office today at 5.30 o'clock. At this time the duties of the competition will be outlined and work will commence immediately.
Two positions are open to the Sophomore class in the present competition. The men taken on the board will become assistant manager and circulation manager in their Junior year, and one will become business manager in his Senior year. The work required in the competition is mainly soliciting advertisements and subscriptions, but general business efficiency will be given weight in the choice of second assistant managers. The competition though hard will not be long, and it furnishes excellent business training. The value of the competition itself as well as of the offices is enough to warrant a large competition from 1917.
Competition in the other two departments of the CRIMSON will open a week from tonight. There are from six to eight positions on the news board open to members of the class of 1917, about half of which will be filled at this time. All Sophomores who wish to enter this competition will report in the office on next Monday evening at 7 o'clock. At this time the managing editor will explain their duties, which will be largely gathering University news. The competition requires no previous journalistic training, and furnishes one of the best possible op- portunities for building up a wide and intimate knowledge of the University and the men in it.
Editorial Writers Wanted.
Also on next Monday evening the editorial writing competition will start. This is open to Juniors only. The work will consist of writing and looking up data for editorials. Either one or two men will probably be elected to the board at the end of the competition
