The University second tennis team in its first match of the season yesterday barely managed top defeat Technology by a score of 5 matches to 4. The singles matches were spit even, and two of the doubles matches, but in the third doubles match E. O. Baker '17 and W. P. Whitehouse, 2d., '17 defeated Alley and Kaler of Technology thereby winning the meet.

Singles.--D. Woodbridge (T.) defeated J. Wooldredge '16, 6-3, 6-3; H. R. Stuart (T.) defeated F. Boyer '16, 6-3, 6-4; A. F. Doty '16 defeated J. C. Richardson, (T.), 6-1, 6-1; E. H. Newman (T.) defeated T. J. D. Fuller '15, 3-6, 9-7, 6-4; E. O. Baker '17 defeated H. C. Alley (T.), 4-6, 6-3, 6-3; W. P. Whitehouse, 2d, '17 defeated H. U. Kaler (T.) 6-1, 6-3; doubles, Wooldredge and Doty defeated Woodbridge and Stuart (T.), 4-6, 6-3, 10-8; Richardson and Newman (T.) defeated Boyer and Fuller, 6-4, 6-4; Baker and Whitehouse defeated Alley and Kaler (T.), 7-5, 7-5.
