Practice for the Freshman hockey team will begin in earnest as soon as the ice in the Stadium rinks is in good condition. The rinks have been thoroughly flooded and frozen, but as yet the ice has not been firm enough to prevent its softening during the day.
The squad practised on the river, on the bend just below the Stillman infirmary, on Tuesday, and on Wednesday the 37 who survived Tuesday's cut took a conditioning run. Coach Smart will make a further cut in the squad before long, and from then on practice will be held regularly with the University second team, and occasionally with the first seven at the Arena.
The men who have been retained are Bishop, Bright, C. A. Clark, W. C. Clark, Clement, Coulter, Cummings, Dole, fiske, Flagg, Francis, Freeman, French, Gross, Heppenheimer, Hoffman, Hubbard, Jackson, Kissel, Laird, Love, Lucas, Marshall, Massin, Merrill, Phinney, Pickering, Platt, Rand, Read, Strawbridge, Trainer, Walker, White, Whitmarsh, G. B. Woods, and Worthy.
