RELAY RACE WENT TO SENIORS

12-LAP HANDICAP WON BY HOLLIS ON LAST DAY OF WINTER TRACK MEET

Close, well-contested races marked the final day of the winter track carnival held yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field. The feature event of the program was the final of the interclass relay races, in which the Seniors defeated the Freshmen. F. F. Williams '20 jumped into the lead on the first turn and gave W. L. Nolan '20 a start of ten yards which he lost to A. O. Phinney '17, the second man on the Senior team. A. M. Robinson '20, the next Freshman runner, established a lead which the 1920 men gradually increased until near the end of the race, when E. A. Teschner '17 and H. W. Minot '17 cut down the Freshmen's 40-yard lead. W. Willcox '17 and B. S. Blanchard '20, anchor men on their respective teams, got away on equal terms, but Willcox won by three yards.

Seven-lap handicap: Won by H. R. Bechtel '17 (20 yards); second, A. S. Potter '17 (20 yards); third, C. C. Bassett '19 (10 yards). Time, 2m. 10 1-5s.

Finals, interclass relay: Seniors (Bliss, Phinney, Ellison, Townsend, Feeney, Bancroft, Davison, Teschner, Minot, Willcox) defeated the Freshmen (Williams, Nolan, Robinson, Duggan, Post, Goodwin, Willett, Evans, Stevenson, Blanchard). Time, 5m. 10s.

12-lap handicap: Won by O. N. Hollis '18 (40 yards); second, R. S. Cook '17 (40 yards); third, S. F. Williams '17 (30 yards). Time, 4m. 40s.

45-yard hurdles, scratch: Won by W. H. Meanix '19; second, M. Noble '17; third, H. W. Rose '19. Time, 6 1-5s.

35-pound weight: Won by W. S. Blanchard '17 (scratch), 40 ft. 6 in.; second, M. Noble '17 (6 in.), 39 ft; third, L. K. Marshall '20 (9 in.), 38 ft. 6 in.

Pole vault: Won by C. S. Babbitt '18 (scratch), 11 ft. 6 in.; second, R. W. Harwood '20 (scratch), 11 ft.; third, A. L. Strehlke '19 (1 ft.), 10 ft.

The University is sending a team of eight men to Philadelphia today to compete in the indoor games of the I. C. A. A. A. A. to be held tomorrow night. No entries have been made in the field events.

The events in which the University will be represented are as follows:

50-yard dash.--J. F. Ryan '19, W. Moore '18 and E. A. Teschner '17.

Medley race--W. Willcox '17 or E. A. Teschner '17, H. W. Minot '17, A. R. Bancroft '17 and J. D. Hutchinson '19.

Two-lap relay (each man to run one-fifth of a mile)--E. A. Teschner '17, W. Willcox '17, H. W. Minot '17 and A. E. Rowse '18 or J. F. Ryan '19.
