The Freshman debating season will begin this evening when the debating society of the first-year class holds its initial meeting in the Common Room of Smith Halls at 8.15 o'clock. The purpose of the meeting will be to assemble those members of 1921 interested in public speaking. Plans will be discussed for the organization of the clubs, officers will be elected, and negotiations for outside debates considered. At various times during the winter contests will be scheduled between dormitory teams and between groups composed of members of the club. This preliminary speaking will be in preparation for the annual triangular debate with Yale and Princeton, which, despite the war, will be held as in past years.
Among the speakers who will address the meeting tonight are H. Epstein '16 and R. W. Kelso '04, both former coaches of University debating teams. In addition, various members of the debating council will talk, outlining the work planned for the coming season.
