M. I. T. LOSES AERO SCHOOL

PLANT WILL BE USED TO TRAIN ARMY ENGINEERS INSTEAD.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

All the cadets of the Army Aviation School at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have been transferred, and the school is to be turned over to the training of army engineers. The men have been ordered to report at Cornell and Princeton to complete their courses. Those who were away on leave were notified by telephone and telegraph that all the cadet aviators had been ordered away.

The transfer of the aviation school was brought about because it was thought that the specialized staff and equipment at M. I. T. were most valuable in the training of engineers, while other schools can provide facilities for instructing aviators in the theoretical business of aerial fighting just as well as Tech. Hereafter, so far as army training is concerned, Technology will be devoted entirely to the engineering branch.

It was also announced yesterday that no further enlistments in the balloon division of the Army Signal Corps will be accepted. The War Department's quota of balloon pilots and observers has been filled and no more are needed at present. Another call may be issued later by department aeronautical officers.
